Corn Chowder

Ingredients:
4 tbsp. butter
1 medium onion, chopped fine
4-6 cloves garlic, chopped
1 24-oz. can corn
1/2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp. flour
3 cups milk
Seasonings: Salt, pepper, onion soup mix, soy sauce, basil, thyme

Sautee onion and garlic in butter until tender. Add corn and sugar, mix well, and cook for about five minutes.

Add the flour and stir for two minutes, then add the milk and simmer until it begins to thicken. (If it doesn't seem to be thickening, make a roux in a separate pan and add.)

Add listed seasonings to taste. I like it peppery, but you may prefer a milder flavor.

Set aside about one-third of the corn mixture and puree the rest. Recombine, warm through, and serve at once.
